All Dressed Up And Nowhere To Go

I remember first hearing that when I was a fabric store. I was in line to get my pieces cut, and the lady behind the counter was looking at the fabric selection of the person in front of me saying, "Oh, I just love this. I got some the other day and thought I would make something, but I was just all dressed up and nowhere to go. All dressed up and nowhere to go." She repeated it a couple of times like in a daze and then she sighed and continued on with her work.

I've thought about it many times since then when I put on an oufit for no particular purpose except that I want to prance around in my yard feeling like the woods is a pathway to a party with my closest friends and the grass is merely a different shade of 'red carpet.' These photos were from one of those days.

Soprano dress, thrifted for a dollar white house black market shoes, borrowed earrings and ring from mom, Forever 21 headband, Children's Place jacket, TJMaxx tights

Then on my way back in, I thought I'd stop by and do some brick wall photos.
If you know me, you know I like to take a lot of pictures, many times of the same thing only with the slightest bit of difference in each. If you'll bear with me for the next three, tell me which you like the best!

After I came back to reality, I got redressed to go see a town production of Footloose and eat at the local diner with Lily.

It's pouring outside now. It wasn't when I started writing this, but now everything is about 6 notches darker and it's raining like crazy. I kind of have the urge to go outside and just lie in it. But then again considering I had to take a couple of advil this morning because of impending sickness, maybe just listening to it might be better. Well, today I plan to read books, read blogs, watch things, listen to things, clean my room (or you know, not), and then go to Lily's for dinner. After I'm going to sleep over at Bex's so I can dogsit Mr. Frodo. The family's in California for the weekend and left me behind with some delicious treats (i.e. apple pie, fruit salad, pistachio ice cream) for my stay over. I'm looking forward to it.
Well, I'll see you all soon!

Make A Wish, It's 11:11

...or it was, when I first started writing this. But wishing on the minute a clock changes feels like summer, doesn't it? Or maybe it feels like every day of the year, but still. Well, in other news, I've been a pretty horrible blogger lately. And by that I mean, I have not been able to catch up on all you lovely bloggers out there! I miss you and all your fabulousness A LOT. So let me catch you up on me, and then we can talk about YOU!

Dress Codes

Lily's mom was having a party with a black and white dress code and I took the theme farther than it should be allowed to go. I mean, I was giving some people dirty looks for having the slightest touch of blue in their outfit. Except for my eyes which I regrettably did not have any contacts for, I was in black and white, baby! But I mean, c'mon people, even the DOG followed the dress code!

Forever 21 headband, borrowed pearls from mom, Gap dress

The Dough Girl's Helper

Went to visit Lily who has a summer job baking and selling cookies. It sounds so perfect for her, I just can't believe it. Now if only she could get paid for watching movies and talking about Seth Rogen and she would REALLY have her perfect job.

Some of her own work!

She's also quite the saleswoman. Just look at how delighted that kid looks!

The World's A Stage, Clearly.
Thanks for the comments on the play pictures I put up in my last post! The four performances all went really well, the last one being the best. I miss it already. Above is a picture from a scene that I was in. In the front with Pikachu is my brother. He played Silvius and I played Corin, so I was kind of like his sidekick. It was the first time we really worked together in a show, so it ended up being a lot of fun. Photo cred to Chris Randazzo.

I Had Forgotten What New York Is Like...
...to new eyes that is! It's kind of delightful pretending to see it for the first time. Laura, a really sweet girl from Austria is visiting America for the first time and a few of my friends and I have been showing her around some sights on the East Coast. You can read more about it here on my completely lovely friend Sarah's blog. If you haven't checked her blog out yet, definitely do. Her posts are such a joy to read with really great descriptions and some ultra fabulous pictures. Okay. Gushing OVER. Moving on.
Even seeing yellow taxis completely thrilled her. And believe me, the excitement really was contagious.
Her first NYC subway experience...
The Brooklyn apartment which she is staying in with her old family friend was so fabulous. So much space and literally every room was painted a different vibrant color.

It has a view of the Statue of Liberty. It didn't really translate into pictures, but in person the silhouette was absolutely stunning.

Then on my way back to Grand Central, I saw this. And my day was complete.

Now. Enough about me. Let's talk about, talk about, talk about YOU.

It Takes Seven Minutes To Take A Bath

That is, according to a certain few Family Feud contestants. So, in another news, summer now officially involves the Game Show Network......and I'm not even embarrassed. Well, not THAT much. Channel 75 is quickly becoming a staple in the rare free minutes of summer. And honestly, who can't resist sitting down for a moment or lingering by the television to catch a quick glimpse of Family Feud or Chain Reaction or a very young (still brunette) David Letterman on Password Plus?...well okay, fine. Probably a lot of people could pass it up. But STILL.
***
Anyway, moving on to real life, I'm in a play that just opened yesterday! It's Shakespeare's As You Like It which I knew nothing about when we began rehearsing a month ago but now really love it. There are three more performances to go! Here are some shots I took during dress week of the show.

Listening: occasional bark from Mr. Frodo, Becky’s dog
Reading: The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides, and Becky and I are reading aloud My First Love (which, as you can probably tell from the title is a very cheesy--albeit very fun to read with a friend--romance novel)
Drinking: Nothing, but I'm actually rather parched, so I might just get something to drink after I post this!
Eating: homegrown cucumber by Becky and her neighbor’s string beans
Wearing: tie dye (made semi recently with a couple of friends) v-neck and navy blue capris. You don't really need much when you spend the day reading, playing clarinet duets, and watching Win A Date With Tad Hamilton.
Watching: The Game Show Network, obviously.
Thinking: Bex and I totally need to get a fake family together and go on Family Feud...or grab another person and get on Chain Reaction.
Anticipating: My first paycheck and the second performance of As You Like It
Wanting: Fresh salad on pita with salmon and feta cheese! Bex, if you are reading this right now...this is a hint. Ha. Just kidding. But not really. Anyway, also wanting to be lying on the beach or skydiving or something.
Obsessed with: Clearly the game show network. It’s funny what people say under pressure. Like that it take seven minutes to take a bath (?) or that monkey is a five letter word.

Will be posting very soon in the next couple of days!
Am now off to go eat and then read all of your lovely blogs...(:
Have a great weekend,

Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With String

On Tuesday, I did some of my favorite things...
That is bike riding, feeling like I was in the Sound of Music, seeing THREE of my best friends, and seeing Harry Potter at midnight!

I was already feeling very Sound of Music esque when Lineth and I came across these benches and I felt very Liesl in the gazebo scene. I spent a couple of minutes hopping around, singing like a lunatic.

We ended up around Becky's neighborhood, so we popped in for a visit and shared our picnic with her. Becky provided some heated up pizza.

I hadn't seen Lineth for at least a month and now she's off in Colombia for 3 weeks to visit family, so I decided it was time to do some brick wall pictures before she left.

All that gorgeous red hair! I love it.
My personal favorite^^

I couldn't decide if I liked it better in black or white or color. Any opinions?

Then I ran into Rupert Grint at Taco Bell and he proposed with a salsa packet. It was very sweet! Sarah was there to document it all and give him the idea!

Okay I would love to chat about Harry Potter for an hour or five...but I really must go. I start my job today waitressing at a local retirement home, and I don't want to be late! Wish me luck!
I'm seeing A Chorus Line later tonight at an outdoor theater nearby--a couple of friends are in it and we're picnicking before. I'm very excited to finally see it.
Have a great Saturday,
Sylvia
